Data stored on your device

In the Android app, Favorites, recent history, likes and skips, app settings, Daily activity and reminder preferences, and Perfect One progress are stored locally on your device. Give Me Compliments does not receive this local app data on our own servers.

On the website, Favorites, recent history, personalization, appearance, interface language, compliment language and Daily progress are stored in your browser using localStorage or equivalent browser storage so those features can work without an account.

Website requests and hosting

When you use the website generator, the selected language, recipient, tone, length or situation and recent anti-repeat message IDs may be sent to the same-site Give Me Compliments API so it can return a matching compliment. Favorites and History are not uploaded as part of that request.

Our website hosting and security infrastructure may process ordinary request information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, timestamp and diagnostics. We do not use that information to create a Give Me Compliments user profile.

Android advertising and ad privacy

To help keep the Android app free, Give Me Compliments uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Google and its advertising partners may process information needed to request, deliver, measure and protect ads, such as device or advertising identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, diagnostics and consent choices, depending on your region, device settings and consent.

Where required, the Android app provides Google's ad privacy choices in Settings. We do not sell the local app data described above.

Website advertising, sponsors and consent

When website advertising is activated, Give Me Compliments may use manually placed Google AdSense units in non-sticky content positions. Auto ads, vignette ads and mobile sticky ads are intentionally disabled for the initial launch. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or other browser storage according to your region, device settings and consent choices.

For users in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google advertising is not enabled in production until Google Privacy & Messaging is published for the site as a Google-certified IAB TCF consent management platform. Ad-supported pages provide a Privacy & cookie settings control so a previous Google consent choice can be revisited.

The fixed mobile dock is reserved for a direct sponsor or a Give Me Compliments house message. It does not load a third-party display-ad script. If a direct sponsor is present and you choose its external link, the sponsor's website receives the ordinary information associated with visiting that site and operates under its own privacy practices.

Sharing compliments

When you choose to share text or a compliment card, the content is passed to your browser, device share sheet or the app or service you select. Give Me Compliments does not upload the shared compliment to our own server merely because you use the Share action. The receiving app or service has its own privacy practices.

Daily reminders

Android Daily reminders are optional local notifications scheduled on your device after you grant notification permission. You can turn reminders off in Give Me Compliments or in your device settings. The website does not currently create equivalent background notification reminders.

Contact and feedback

If you email us, your email address and anything you choose to include are transmitted through your email provider and received by us so we can respond, provide support and improve the product. We keep support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or as required by law.

Retention and deletion

Local app or browser data remains on your device until you change or clear it, clear the app or browser data, or uninstall the app. Because Give Me Compliments does not require an account, there is no account profile to delete. If you want us to delete information you sent in a support email, contact us and tell us what you would like removed.

Third-party services

Google Mobile Ads, Google AdSense when activated, website hosting and security providers, direct sponsor websites, and any apps or services you choose through a share sheet operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Their handling of information is controlled by those providers, not by Give Me Compliments.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, website, our services or legal requirements change. The Last updated date above will be revised when we make material changes.
